There are several reasons for creating this blog.
One, to watch my self progress. Who knows, maybe if I stick to this thing, in a year or two I might want to look back and see how far I've come.
Second, the most important reason, is so I can motivate myself. By committing to this damn blog, I'll be forced to have things to write about.
Before I start training myself and all, you should probably know a few things.
Last year, in January 2009, I walked P.F. Chang's Rock N' Roll Half Marathon, my first 13.1 miles. Sunday I will be walking my first 10 K at the Lost Dutchman's, here in hot ass Arizona.
Did I train for last years? No.
Have I trained for Sunday's? No. The only excercise I've had to back me up is the P.E. class at my high school. And still, the only running we're required to do is 5 minutes of warm-up. For me, that's like seven or so laps around the gym, which is very little over a quarter of a mile. Along with that, every now and then the coach has us do a mile. My last time was 11 minutes and 16 seconds. Yeah, I know. That sucks.
Still, I plan to begin a total training plan for myself.
I'm going from the couch to the track. I'm going to start of small. My first goal will be to lower my mile time.
